Phlebologists work in a specialty called phlebology whose purpose is to diagnose and treat vein problems such as spider and varicose veins. Although it is not well publicized, vein care has been performed since antiquity. In the past few years the techniques used to treat vein problems have become much more sophisticated and effective. Phlebology is now designated as a specialty by the American Medical Association. All procedures at EVC are performed by Alan P. Crowther, MD whose practice is limited to phlebology. Dr. Crowther is an active member of the American College of Phlebology.
